Whoever makes Allah, His Messenger and the fellow believers his friends,

Assalamu ‘alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,
While a party is ever engaged in bloodshed, bringing troubles, inspiring evil and doubts, deceiving with false stories; there exists another party, unlike the first one, busy in repairing things, inspiring goodness, portraying truth, and unveiling reality. The first party is the party of devil consisting of its followers. The second party is the party of Allah consisting of Prophets, Angels, His pious slaves. Iblis (devil) wants to keep people in confusion and misery by keeping them away from knowing their Lord. Allah wants to reveal His bounties and everlasting happiness by guiding people towards Himself. Those in the party of Allah, they have different ranks based on their duties. Al-Khidr (‘alaihi salam) is one such an individual who is part of this second group and the topic of our discussion today.
Quran mentions a story of Prophet Musa (‘alaihi salam) and a man (one of the servants of Allah) in Surah al-Kahf (18:60-82). The man who is mentioned in the passage as ‘one of the slaves of Allah’ is generally known as al-Khidr (or al-Khizr). It will not be of our concern to discuss whether the man is a Prophet or not. All that interests us is a set of characteristics that describe al-Khidr. Both, Prophet Musa (‘alaihi salam) and al-Khidr (‘alaihi salam) are servants of Allah and they both have been doing what they were required to do.
Al-Khidr (‘alaihi salam) is described in the Quran as one of the servants of Allah who was bestowed with Allah’s Mercy and was given Knowledge from Allahu ta’ala.
“Then they found one of Our slaves, unto whom We had bestowed mercy from Us, and whom We had taught knowledge from Us.” [al-Kahf - 18:65]

Assalamu ‘alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,
People will be saying “Muslims are doomed because of their religion!”. There is no doubt in our miserable situation today. We have come down to this situation not because of Islam but because of being neglectful of the teachings of Islam. Islam is free from error and it will always remain pure. In fact, it is the same Islam that had predicted our current situation over 1400 years ago. It turns out that Islam was true and the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) told the truth. The Ahadeeth are true. But there is another side to it. If our Prophet (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) had told us of the worst time, he has also told us the finest of time that will come after the terrible time.
The Prophet (sallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam) has told us the truth. The way we see; we see Islam illuminating the whole world by bringing justice and eradicating injustice and corruption. Things will now move towards recovery. But beware that this is not the worst time yet. The worst is yet to come. All false (batil) systems are yet to be collapsed and it will bring chaos. People will not be able to mange their affairs when their own man-made systems will collapse, plus the torments from the heaven will make things even worst. We are saying this because we need to prepare for the worst. When Prophet Yusuf (‘alaihi salam) became aware of the draught in Egypt, seven years before its advent, he started to plan for it by building large storage rooms to preserve food in them. He could have supplicated to Allah to avert that draught, but it had become clear to him that what Allah has decided to bring, it is going to come: it is inevitable. We need to plan and be prepared for the worst. True believers are not afraid of tough times. Their hearts are strong and hold the torch of hope, believing in the Mercy of Allah. They will sell their hearts and souls to Him in Love and in Devotion, while their stomach will be empty, their mouth dry, and their eyes sunken.
“And of mankind is he who would sell himself, seeking the Pleasure of Allah. And Allah is full of Kindness to (His) slaves.“ [al-Baqarah - 2:207]

Far above the levels of Islam and Iman, there is a stage of Ma’rifah (cognition of the Divine Excellence), which ultimately leads to ‘Ishq (immense Divine Love). People of this level are referred in the Quran as Al-Muqarrabeen (the nearest ones to Allah). These are those people whose hearts are filled with the Love of Allahu ta’ala (‘Ishq), as Allah has said “Wal-latheena amanoo ashaddu hubban lillahi” (And those who believe, they have deeply profound love for Allah) [al-Baqarah - 2:165]. And because of this ‘Ishq, they are prepared to do anything for Him. But it does not go one-way. Allah also Loves them and He is also prepared to do anything for them. Even on the day of judgment, Al-Muqarrabeen will stand very close to Allah, and distinctly away from two huge populations of General Muslims and Non-Muslims [al-Waaqi'ah - 56:7-57]. They will be closer to Allah than anyone else. What do these people do to reach to this level? Can we really imagine the excellence of being nearest to Allah?
“And (all of) you shall be divided into three groups: ¤
1) those on the right hand – how blessed shall be the people of the right hand; ¤
2) those on the left hand – how damned shall be the people of the left hand; ¤
3) and foremost (al-sabiqoon) shall be the foremost. These will be those nearest to Allah (al-Muqarraboon), ¤ in the gardens of bliss.” ¤ [al-Waaqi'ah - 56:7-12]Translit: Wakuntum azwajan thalathatan: ¤

Assalamu ‘alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,
There is an unbreakable link established between each creature with the Creator. It is not possible for anyone to escape from this link. This link signifies the Lordship of the Creator. Without the support from the Creator, the creatures cannot maintain even their own existence . Allah being the Creator is also the Rabb (Lord) of all Worlds; i.e. He is not just simply creating beings but He is also maintaining and reviving life, while also fulfilling everyone’s needs. So, on one side there is the Lord (Rabb), who is independent and without any needs, and on the side there is creation that is always dependent on Allah and is always in need of Him. For example, the blood circulation system, the nervous system, the digestion system, the reproduction system, and many other systems in our bodies are working without our will and control. When we die, the whole body stops working. We cannot live or maintain our existence without the support from the creator. Islam teaches us to Believe in Allah with all His attributes such as His attribute of Lordship, His Supremacy, His Justice. Islam also teaches us to have Trust in Allah because there is only Khaiyr (goodness) in His hand, He is reviving life for the betterment of all creation.
One might say if Allah is the Provider (Rabb) of all then why are their millions of helpless-needy people around the world? Why is the Creator not helping those oppressed men, women and children when they are being persecuted by criminals? These questions frequently come to our mind. In fact, these questions have always been sliding across the minds of the people throughout the human history. For example consider the story of Bani-Israel:
