I've been thinking lately about how impatient man [mankind] generally is. I thought I'd share it with you. Allah says, 'Truly man was created very impatient' Fretful when evil touches him; And niggardly when good reaches him;- [ma'arij 70: 19-21]
Islam is all about doing things for the Pleasure of Allah. It's about God-Consciousness [taqwa]. Taqwa is to be conscious of Allah every minute... better still... every second of the day. It's to remember Allah before doing anything at all. We give charity, pay zakah, Fast the whole month of Ramadan, pray five times a day on their appointed times, the list goes on... al Hamdulillah. But the problem comes in when we expect the rewards to keep coming. Allah might or might not reward us in this life. By expecting Him to give us what we want, we're sort of stepping on to His territory. It's not like He's going to forget to reward us, no way. It's not like He's going to let our efforts go in vain, a bigger no way. Then why do we waste our efforts and precious time in thinking about the rewards that haven't reached us, when a bigger reward in the form of Paradise might be waiting for us at the end of the road? This is probably because we've been brainwashed by the cliche 'seeing is believing'. If we are rewarded in this life, we can see it; but the reward that Allah has kept for our AfterLife is something we can't see and is therefore unbelievable... and to some people who're too attached to this world, it's as good as not being rewarded, ma'az Allah [God Forbid]. We think... O Lord, I've been praying tirelessly for the past 5 years, give in charity and maintain blood ties even though my relatives are against me... why haven't you answered my du'a? The moment I think like this... I should think about Allah and say... sorry Allah, that's Your job. Doing good deeds is my job and beyond that it's Your Will. Allah says, 'And there is the type of man who gives his life to earn the pleasure of Allah: And Allah is full of kindness to (His) devotees.' [baqarah 2: 207] The people whom Allah loves are the type in the above verse, who go on doing good so much so that it seems they've given up their lives. Allah is the Master of the Day of Judgment [fatihah 1: 4] Let's do our job as humans and leave the rest to Allah. If He says He's the Master, then as humans we're fooling ourselves by assuming that we could ever stop Him from rewarding any of His slaves, even if those slaves of Allah are people we don't quite like. rukaiah (Posted on Feb 11, 2001) Quote this article on your site | Views: 124
